Effigy is the band's seventh album. It was released digitally on January 17, 2017, and physically on February 7, 2017.

Odd Logic underwent a change when frontman Sean decided to establish a lineup of musicians to fully flesh out the then-upcoming album and sound. Once established, the same lineup played the album live on several occasions throughout 2015 and 2016, including one night at the Seattle Hard Rock Cafe in March of 2016.

Effigy is an in-depth concept album that follows a unique fantasy storyline. Long-time contributor and friend Kevin Hunter co-wrote the story-encompassing poem, which can be viewed here.

Digital copies of Effigy and other Odd Logic releases can be purchased here. Digital and physical copies of Effigy and others can be purchased at CDBaby here.

THE HISTORY OF effigy

Many people wanted an Odd Logic release including full band member participation, though work and personal lives of involved participants proved to be challenging to the goal of a traditional band environment.

From 2014-2015, Sean wrote most of Effigy while staying in hotels. When Sean decided he wanted to take Odd Logic into the public eye and play out, Sean recruited long-time friend Stephen to join. The two had worked together previously on Stephen’s project Graphic Light Theory and as such Stephen was an easy addition to the group, satisfying much of the newer guitar-driven sound. Mike was announced as a full member in April 2014. Pete auditioned and became a part of the group one year later, in April 2015.

The four of them spent the following year reworking the material and rehearsing, and played the first Odd Logic gig at RehearsalWorks in Auburn, WA, on October 4, 2015, to a group of family and close friends.

They continued to work and perfect much of the new material's direction and sound and performed again at Louie G’s in Fife, WA, on November 27th, 2015, alongside three other local progressive bands.

Moving forward, much of the album came to fruition as Odd Logic’s third gig took place on March 19th, 2016, at the Seattle Hard Rock Cafe.

From there, the band took a live hiatus to focus on the completion of Effigy, a task that proved to be more challenging as recording locations changed in mid-2016. Wrapping up the album, Sean enlisted long-time friends Mike Alvord (of HollowBorn) and returning contributor Kevin Hunter to perform various guitar and keyboard duties, respectively. Kevin also helped write the poem detailing the story of Effigy, which can be viewed here. The band is very grateful for their involvement.

Says Sean of Effigy: “It took about 14 years but it happened! And it turned out to be the piece of music I am most proud of, thanks to the other guys who really filled out the sound.”
