parallax panorama

ca. 2004

Parallax Panorama was released on February 26, 2004. It is the band's debut album.

Parallax Panorama was the first Odd Logic album to be released. Sean Thompson had recently finished up with another project, Mine!, and decided to go in a slightly different direction and stray farther into the world of progressive rock.

The album contrasts with later releases in that it is more straightforward and 'accessible' than your typical prog album. Even so, the musicianship is exactly what people have come to expect of Sean and Odd Logic.

Physical and digital copies of many Odd Logic releases can be purchased at CDBaby here.

the history of parallax panorama

Parallax Panorama was a compilation of songs that either didn’t fit into Sean’s previous band’s format, or were slated to be recorded by that band but never made it to that stage. “For the most part, I wanted to be a little more experimental,” says Sean. “Odd Logic was born as an outlet for my more ‘proggy’ tendencies.” Sean’s previous project, Mine!, and the overall direction of this first album reflected a more neo-progressive style than what Odd Logic has become over the years. Influenced by the likes of Enchant and IQ, Parallax Panorama was very accessible by a wide range of music enthusiasts and casual listeners alike. It acted as the gateway for Odd Logic in moving forward and evolving the overall sound. The entire album was recorded on a digital 16-track machine and mastered in house, in a small top-floor studio apartment in Tacoma, WA, known as Apt. A.

Sean was responsible for vocals, all instruments, recording, mixing, and mastering of Parallax Panorama.
